Long Term Foster Dogs

Social media is one of the most powerful tools we have to help dogs find their next chapter.
A great photo and a heartfelt bio can open doors for dogs who might otherwise be overlooked. But there’s something important we want to touch on the way we talk about dogs who’ve been waiting a while.
Sometimes we see posts that ask:
“Why has this dog been in rescue so long?”
“How come no one has adopted them yet?”
“What’s taking so long?”
While these questions come from a place of love and concern, they can accidentally send the wrong message to someone seeing that dog for the very first time.
If a potential adopter’s first impression is “Why has no one wanted this dog?”, their mind may jump to, “What’s wrong with them?” even when the answer is nothing at all.
The truth is, there are so many reasons a dog may still be waiting:
• The right home simply hasn’t crossed paths yet.
• They’ve needed time to decompress and learn new skills.
• The rescue is careful and intentional about matching dogs to the right fit.
• Sometimes, it just takes time and visibility.
Instead of focusing on how long a dog has been waiting, we can highlight who they are today: their growth, their quirks, and what kind of home would help them thrive. Every post is a chance to introduce them to someone new and maybe, just maybe, that person is out there scrolling today.
